Suspense Podcast to Perform Live at USC Sumter
Jamieson Ridenhour and Hayley Heninger of the Palimpsest Podcast are the Featured Guests for USC Sumter's Visiting Writer Series
Sumter, SC (03/21/2025) — The University of South Carolina Sumter announced the guests who will be featured in their Visiting Writer Series. This spring's presentation will feature two live performances of the podcast "Palimpsest". The events will take place on Wednesday, March 26, at 12 and 7 pm in the Dr. C. Leslie Carpenter Auditorium on the USC Sumter campus (200 Miller Road).
According to their website, "Palimpsest is primarily a single-voiced audio drama about memory, identity, and the things that haunt us." Each season presents a self-contained story that weaves horror, fantasy, and psychological realism. The podcast, which has logged 1.3 million downloads, was created by Jamieson Ridenhour and Hayley Heninger.
"This show is highly regarded in the audio storytelling world for its atmospheric drama and suspense," said Dr. Mary Ellen Bellanca, professor of English at USC Sumter. "A palimpsest is a surface or structure that's been altered but still carries traces of its earlier self. In the Palimpsest Podcast, the past refuses to stay past, demanding to make its stories known. As one character says, 'Any time we remember, we're talking about ghosts. And ghosts want something.'"
The Visiting Writer Series is sponsored by the USC Sumter Division of Arts and Letters, USC Foundation, Cultural Events Committee and Korn Trust. The event is free, open to the public and intended for mature audiences.
