USC Sumter Tuition Rates Will Not Increase in 2019-2020 Academic Year
Sumter, SC (07/01/2019) — The University of South Carolina Board of Trustees recently approved a budget plan that will not increase tution rates at the USC Sumter campus this fall. Per-semester undergraduate tuition in Sumter will remain $3,579 for in-state residents and $8,919 for non-residents.
"For many students, the cost of tuition has become the number one priority when choosing a college because students and families are increasingly concerned about college debt," said Dean Michael Sonntag. "Our hope is that by not raising tuition, more individuals will be able to take advantage of the quality education and opportunities we provide at USC Sumter."
University leaders credited additional state support for keeping tuition in check. This year's budget passed by the General Assembly and signed by the governor included an additional $18.7 million in funding for university system operations as well as $36.8 million in one-time funding for systemwide capital needs.
"We would like to thank our Sumter Legislative Delegation, and especially House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Rep. Murrell Smith, for their ongoing support to ensure higher education is an attainable goal in Sumter," said Sonntag.
