Fire Ant Athletics Hires New Head Women's Golf Coach

Sumter, SC (05/08/2017) — The University of South Carolina Sumter is proud to announce the hiring of Hope Giordano as the new Head Women's Golf Coach for the Fall 2017 season.

A native of Buck County, Pennsylvania, this is Giordano's first season as Head Women's Golf Coach at USC Sumter. She recently graduated from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania where she received her Bachelor's of Science in Sports Management.

Before attending Kutztown University (KU), Giordano committed to playing on the women's golf team at Emmanuel College where she made the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) All-Conference Team in 2014 and was a National Christian College Association (NCCAA) Golf National Championship Individual Qualifier.

Giordano finished her last two years at Kutztown where she received several awards, including: two-time MVP recipient (2015, 2016), School-Record Individual Career Average (2014-2016), two-time Individual Season Average (2015, 2016), two-time All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) First Team (2015, 2016) and PSAC Golfer of the Week in 2014. Giordano left the KU golf team with an astonishing average of 81.3 for the 2015-16 season, second in single-season history.

"I am beyond excited for this opportunity to grow a women's golf program and I have lots of plans for the team," Giordano said. "I love the Sumter community and I could not be happier to be here."

Women's golf is brand new to the University of South Carolina Sumter.

"Golf is a popular sport at the high-school level and the weather conditions in our area make it easy for teams to play nearly all year-round," Director of Athletics Adrienne "Age" Cataldo said.

Giordano is actively recruiting student athletes for the Fall 2017 season. Potential players should visit uscfireants.com to fill out a potential player form or contact Coach Giordano directly at 803-938-3806 or 267-679-1641.
